Birding at Emmerdale.

Drum roll….my first post in about 3 weeks…

Here goes, it’s a Yorkshire post, seeing as I’m at home at the moment for birthdays.

On Sunday we drove up to the rather fine Harewood Estate. A walk through some of the fields takes you to where Emmerdale Farm is filmed and if that doesn’t tickle your fondant maybe Red Kite sightings will?

Harewood Estate, Yorkshire

Harewood House, in the middle of 4000 acres.

Harewood house took 12 years to build - from 1759 - 1771. It's still lived in today by the same family.

Within minutes we saw a few Redkites, this one being mobbed by Crows.

Signpost on the set of Emmerdale Farm, all these places are ficticious.

The Dingles Farm

in some scrubland next to the Dingles Farm there were some Goldfinch chicks.

Jeuvenille Goldfinches.

Also in the scrubland next to the Dingle’s Farm was this bird below, I’m not sure – maybe a Whitethroat? I’ve never seen one before.

A whitethroat?

The Woolpack

See top left of the photo above the Emmerdale farm set?

There were two Redkites, this one glided right above us.

Redkite closeup

I got about 50 shots of the Redkite, they really aren't phased by people below them.

There's no great skill getting shots of Redkites, they glide so slowly.

Also saw Blackbirds, Jackdaws, Carrion Crows, Rooks, Tits, Song Thrush, Robin, Magpies, Dunnock and House Sparrows.
