Off to Offaly
On Sunday I was in Offaly. Here’s some pics. Not many birds. I did try.
I’m rushing this post, busy week.
Turning off the N4 for Enfield/Edenderry we drove through some lovely countryside. In the midst of it all was this magnificent example of beautiful architecture.

Hogweed or potential Giant Hogweed?? This is important to know given the burns Giant Hogweed can give you.

I heard Chiffchaff, Willow Warblers, all the tits, a pheasant barking in the next door field, a Song Thrush and some Woodpigeons. Oh and a Blackcap.

Would you buy a field from someone with that surname? I loved this field and would probably buy from Sheila, even if it would be impossible to build a house on this presumed bogland.

Clonbullogue River Walk. Tidiest town twice?! Fix I say. Is there a tidiest town for each county? I'll have to look it up.

Lots of Rookeries, Rooks (obvi), Hooded Crows and Jackdaws around. The Rook with the most influence gets to nest at the top so they don't get shat on by the other birds. True story.
I also started down the Grand Canal walk but heavy rain started so I went back to the car.
We had a very fresh, very good quality dinner in the Italian on the Main St in Edenderry called Galileos. Fresh! not canned artichokes in the salad – I’m easily pleased.
So that was my breif visit to the area around Edenderry, Cloubullogue in Co Offaly.
Would like to go again.
